Nowadays, the transportation system has been improved and upgraded significantly, making it more convenient for you to choose the means of transportation between Ha Long tourist spots. According to Cuong’s experience, to get to the complex entertainment area of Sun World Hạ Long park, you can choose to travel by car, bus, train, or if you want to explore, you can also go on a motorbike adventure. To make your journey to Ha Long as smooth as possible, below Cuong will divide it according to the main departure areas for everyone to easily imagine.
From Hanoi, Hai Phong to “Sun World Ha Long park”
Since the Ha Long tourist destination “Sun World Ha Long park” is located in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, you can easily travel here by various means such as: car, bus, train, or motorbike adventure in Ha Long. The costs for these transportation methods do not differ significantly, so depending on your preferences and needs, you can choose the most convenient means of transportation for yourself.
Firstly, travel to Ha Long by bus:
From Hanoi, you can go to My Dinh bus station to catch a bus to Quang Ninh. At the station, there are many bus companies for you to choose from, but the most reputable ones that I recommend you choose are: Kumho, Phuc Xuyen, Duc Phuc,… These are bus companies specializing in the Hanoi-Quang Ninh route with reasonable ticket prices ranging from 150-180k for sitting and sleeping tickets, plus the buses are equipped with full and convenient facilities. There will be a bus every 10-15 minutes so you don’t have to worry about missing a bus. Additionally, you can take any bus with signs to Quang Ninh destinations such as Mong Cai, Cam Pha, Cua Ong, and they will all take you to the final stop in Quang Ninh. However, to ensure you don’t end up on a subpar bus, it’s best to choose reputable and quality bus companies as mentioned above. Pay attention to those of you taking the Hanoi-Quang Ninh route, when the bus reaches the Ao Ca intersection, Bai Chay, Ha Long, tell the driver to drop you off and then take a taxi or bus to get to the entrance of “Sun World Halong Complex,” which is only about 3-4km away.
For those of you going on a 2-day 1-night or 3-day 2-night Halong tour, you can consider choosing Limousine Phuc Xuyen, Ha Vi, Anh Huy, Halong Xanh… Ticket prices are around 200k per person. Although it may be a bit more expensive, having the bus take you directly to the park entrance is definitely worth it, right?
From Hai Phong, you can go to Lac Long bus station to catch a bus to Mong Cai and get off at Ha Long, then take a bus or taxi to get to the park. For buses passing by the park, there is the Phuc Xuyen bus route number 03 Hon Gai – Hoanh Bo with a ticket price of 15,000 VND.
Second, getting to Halong by train:
The train is also a means of transportation that many Ha Long tourists have chosen recently. Although the travel time may be longer compared to other means of transportation, due to its safety and cost-effectiveness, it is still widely used. In Cuong’s opinion, traveling to Ha Long with a group of people by train can be very enjoyable. Sitting on the train, you can enjoy the scenery, have food and drinks, and chat freely, which is very interesting. You should try this means of transportation at least once.
To travel from Hanoi to Ha Long: You can choose the Halong Express train departing from Gia Lam station. There is a train to Bai Chay bus station every 10 or 15 minutes. The train departs at 07:05 in the morning, and the travel time to Ha Long is about 5 hours. The ticket price is around 100,000 VND for a seat and 200,000 VND for a berth.
Third, travel to Ha Long by motorbike:
In addition to buses and trains, to make your Ha Long trip more attractive and exciting, you can travel from Hanoi to Ha Long by motorbike. This means of transportation will provide you with many experiences, allowing you to be flexible with the routes you want to conquer. You can fully enjoy the scenery along the way, stop for photos at any time from the capital Hanoi to Ha Long, Quang Ninh. Moreover, you can save a lot of money compared to using a car. Cuong has traveled to Ha Long by motorbike before, so Cuong has some knowledge about the routes here. In Cuong’s opinion, the road from Hanoi to Ha Long is quite easy to travel, mainly straight, so you can feel somewhat reassured.
From Hanoi to Ha Long, you can follow the following two routes:
Route 1: Hanoi – Bac Ninh – Ha Long, about 155 km long
Starting from Hanoi, you can take route 5 to Sai Dong intersection, then head straight to Bac Ninh, and from Bac Ninh, take route 18 through Pha Lai – Chi Linh – Dong Trieu – Uong Bi – Ha Long.
Route 2: Hanoi – Bac Ninh – Ha Long, about 160 km long.
From Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, you can take Noi Bai – Bac Ninh road (32km) to Bac Ninh. Continue on National Highway 18a through Pha Lai – Sao Do – Dong Trieu – Uong Bi – Ha Long. For those traveling by motorbike, for safety and to avoid speeding, Cuong has some notes on some road sections:
Section from Noi Bai road to Bac Ninh – Lang Son highway: pay attention to signaling when changing lanes.
Bac Ninh – Pha Lai: Drive at the speed limit of 50 within the city, pay attention to continuous lines in industrial zones
Sao Do section: There are speed traps (I lost 500k here before)
Weigh station before reaching Tuan Chau gate, speed limit enforced.
Hanoi – Route 5: Through densely populated areas, drive at the allowed speed of 50.
From Quan Goi to Uong Bi: in the urban area near Quan Goi, there are speed traps.
From Ho Chi Minh City to Sun World Halong park
For those in Ho Chi Minh City who want to travel to Ha Long and visit Sun World Halong park, it has now become easier than ever.
From Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Ninh, you can travel by car or plane. However, because the distance is quite far, it is recommended to take a flight to save time. Now there are direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hai Phong with cheap airfares, so once you reach Hai Phong, your trip to Ha Long is within reach. Most travelers from Ho Chi Minh City also choose to fly.
To travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Long City, Quang Ninh, you first need to go to Tan Son Nhat Airport to buy a ticket to Cat Bi Airport, Hai Phong. The plane will land at Cat Bi Airport, Hai Phong. From there, to reach the Sun World Halong Complex entertainment area, you can take a taxi to this tourist destination. The travel time will take about 50 minutes for a distance of approximately 40 km.
This is for independent travelers to Ha Long, but if you are on a full-package tour to Ha Long, after landing at Cat Bi Airport, there will be a tour company shuttle waiting for you, so you just need to get on the shuttle and head straight to Sun World for your tour.
