This place connects Đà Nẵng city and Thừa Thiên Huế province, about 30km from the center of Đà Nẵng, passing through the Hải Vân Pass – one of the most adventurous and scenic routes in Vietnam.
Route to Lăng Cô from Đà Nẵng:
From the center of Đà Nẵng, follow Nguyễn Văn Linh street to the roundabout, turn onto Nguyễn Tri Phương street, then onto Lê Độ street and turn left onto Nguyễn Tất Thành street, then onto QL1A. From here, you can go straight up the pass and head to Đầm Lập An – Lăng Cô beach. Be cautious while driving on the pass as there are many sharp turns and sometimes light rain with fog, so remember to turn on your headlights when on the high pass and make sure your gas tank is full.
For families, a safer option: still take the road to the foot of Hai Van Pass but on QL1A, you turn left onto the shuttle bus lane (there are signs on the road). If you go straight, you will reach the shuttle bus station, where you can buy tickets for parking and passengers to cross Hai Van Pass by a 29-seat bus. The shuttle bus ticket price for crossing the pass ranges from 20 – 40k for pedestrians and motorbikes. This is a safe and time-saving option, although you will miss out on the beautiful and unique mountain pass.
