Travel itinerary for a 2-day-1-night trip to Dak Nong from Saigon


Day 1: Saigon – Ta Dung – Overnight camping

  •  Departure from Saigon at 6 am, the journey takes about 6 hours to Dak Nong, arriving around 12 pm. Have lunch in Gia Nghia town.
  •  2 pm: Depart for Ta Dung Lake, on the way stop by Dak Glong’s guava garden. The guava garden is free to enter, you can pick and eat guavas freely in the garden, and if you want to take some home, they charge 20k per kg. The guavas are very crispy and sweet, similar to Taiwanese guavas.
  •  Arrive at Ta Dung Lake at 4 pm, check-in, store your luggage, and then take photos in various poses, capturing the sunset and the mesmerizing view resembling a miniature version of Ha Long Bay.
  •  Stay overnight at Mr. Dong’s homestay right on the top of Ta Dung Lake.
  • Here in the evening, you can order grilled dishes at the homestay: Grilled chicken, wild boar meat, grilled sweet potatoes, etc. If you don’t order food, you can bring your own and use the charcoal stove provided by the homestay (each stove costs 100k and there is an additional 100k cleaning fee).

Day 2: Watching the Sunrise – Checking out the pine forest and heading back to Saigon

  •  Wake up early the next morning to watch the sunrise.Note: The sunrise here is quite late so you don’t need to wake up early, waking up around 6:30 am is enough to see it.
  •  Have breakfast at the homestay, if you want to save money, you can bring your own food or order at the homestay’s restaurant.
  •  At 8 am, walk around Uncle Dong’s homestay and then buy a ticket to the neighboring restaurant with a better view for more photos.
  • Check out at 10 am. After leaving Uncle Dong’s gate, turn left and run about 1km, looking towards Ta Dung Lake, there is a small hill with a lonely tree right there, where you can capture the most beautiful view of Ta Dung.
  •  On the way back, you can stop by Dak Glong pine forest to take some surreal photos, the scenery is as beautiful as the Western sky.

Our group of 5 people had the following expenses:

  •  Gas money: 500k / 5 = 100k
  •  Camping: 150k per person
  •  Pomegranate garden: 20k
  •  Food: 230k

So each person only spent 500k

Notes for visiting Dak Nong

When visiting Dak Nong, you should pay attention: there are more traffic police than residents here, every few kilometers there is a traffic checkpoint, the traffic here is very strict. To avoid affecting your enjoyment, pay attention to your speed and lanes.
