Here are some tips for camping at Hồ Đồng Quan, Sóc Sơn that I want to share with you so you can have a great time this holiday season. This is the My Hill area that we visited last week. If you want to take some Instagram-worthy photos, there’s nothing to complain about. (I’ll note some minor complaints below)
Where is My Hill located?
My Hill is located in the Hồ Đồng Quan ecological area, Quang Tiến, Sóc Sơn, Hanoi. It’s about a 1-hour drive from Hanoi. This is a camping and picnic spot for families and young people in Hanoi on weekends.
What does My Hill offer?

One-day itinerary to My Hill from Hanoi
Transportation: Motorbike or bus
- If going by motorbike: Follow the Nội Bài highway, this route is quite beautiful mainly with wide, smooth asphalt roads. The travel time is about 45 – 60 minutes.
- If going by bus: Catch the bus at Nam Thang Long bus station, take bus number 56 or 15 to Sóc Sơn station. The time is about 60 minutes, depending on the speed of travel.
Note: You should leave early to avoid the high sun, as the journey can be tiring. Also, you will have more time to participate in the fun activities at My Hill.

What to do at My Hill
- When you arrive at My Hill, buy a ticket at the entrance, the ticket price is 40,000 VND per person. If you need to rent a tent, they are also available at My Hill. Depending on the number of people, there are small tents for 4-6 people at 130,000 VND. Tents for 15 people are 260,000 VND.
- You can bring your own food to organize a BBQ party outdoors. My Hill also offers rental services for grills, grilling racks, firewood… If not, there are food services available, just order about 1 hour in advance for them to prepare and serve on time.
- After that, spend about an hour exploring and walking around the pine forest to admire the scenery and take beautiful photos together.
- After eating and resting for about 30 minutes, start your journey to explore My Hill with the following destinations:
- Walk around the lake, here there are a system of cottages and a beautiful lake view, lush green scenery, and spacious.
- Participate in fun games here such as: Name tag pulling, water ball, treasure hunt around the hill… There are plenty of open spaces here for team-building activities.
- Or you can go fishing in the Dong Quan lake area, try climbing Ong Coc hill…
Around 5 pm, return to Hanoi.
My Hill is very close to some tourist spots such as: Gióng Temple, Hàm Lợn tourist area, Việt Phủ Thành Chương… you can combine to make a 2-day 1-night trip.
Some notes when visiting My Hill
- If possible, you should visit My Hill on weekends, as during the week there won’t be reception and support, as the My Hill support team is based in Hanoi, they only come to take care of guests and the area on weekends.
- The style at My Hill is self-service, meaning My Hill will provide all necessary items, how you use or prepare them is up to you… And cleaning up, disposing of trash after use is also your responsibility.
- You can prepare food, have a barbecue and bring it along. However, if you don’t want to carry everything, you can call My Hill an hour in advance, and everything will be prepared for you.
- The lake at My Hill is quite deep, so be careful when taking photos by the lake.
- My Hill is an ecological area, so you need to maintain environmental cleanliness.
- As it is an ecological forest, you may encounter insects, so prepare some insect repellent.
- When you want to have a campfire, you should contact the My Hill management team for specific instructions.
Some points that are not okay at My Hill
- The forest is too vast, so camping at night may feel a bit scary.
- Although the services are cheap, they are mostly self-service, even if you have money, you may not be able to buy some things you want, it’s far from residential areas, so those who go there should prepare plenty of snacks, napkins, beer, soft drinks in advance to avoid inconvenience.
- There are many lakes and water channels without fences, so it’s best not to bring young children along, as you need to keep an eye on them, which may take away from the fun.
